These terms apply when you use the SplitCheck app or the website at splitcheck.me. By using SplitCheck, you agree to them.
SplitCheck is operated by Part2AI, Inc. ("we", "us"). If you don't agree with these terms, please don't use the app.
SplitCheck is a tool for recording and splitting shared expenses between people. It keeps track of who paid for what and what everyone owes.
SplitCheck does not move money. We don't process payments between you and anyone else, we don't hold funds, and we're not a bank or payment service. Settling up happens outside the app — we only record that you said it happened.
You need an account to use most of SplitCheck. You can create one with an email address, or join a group through an invite link without signing up — in which case we create an anonymous account tied to that device.
You're responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your login details to yourself, and let us know if you think someone else has access.
A note on anonymous accounts: if you joined through an invite link without signing up, your access is tied to that browser or device. If you clear your browser data or lose the device, you may lose access to those groups, and we may not be able to recover it. If you want durable access, create a full account.
SplitCheck uses AI to read receipts and interpret expenses you type or dictate. It's good, but it isn't perfect — amounts can be misread, items can be missed, and currency conversions use rates from third-party providers that may not match what your bank charges.
Always check the numbers before you rely on them. You're responsible for confirming that expenses, splits, and balances are correct. We're not liable for money disputes that come from an incorrect amount, a misread receipt, or an exchange rate difference.
SplitCheck is free to use with limits on how many AI-assisted entries you can make each month. SplitCheck Pro removes those limits.
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google Play under the policies of the store where you subscribed, not by us. If a payment fails or a subscription lapses, Pro features stop and the free tier limits apply again — your data stays put.
You can delete your account even if you have an active subscription. See how to request account deletion without the app, and cancel your subscription separately to stop future billing.
We may change subscription pricing. If we do, the change applies from your next renewal, and you'll be told in advance so you can cancel if you'd rather not continue.
Don't use SplitCheck to:
We can suspend or close accounts that do these things.
The expenses, notes, group names, and other content you add stay yours. You give us permission to store and process that content for the purpose of running SplitCheck — including sending receipt images and expense text to our AI provider so it can be read.
Remember that anyone in a group with you can see what you add to that group.
The SplitCheck app, website, name, and design are ours. These terms don't give you the right to copy or reuse them.
We work to keep SplitCheck running, but we don't guarantee it will always be available or error-free. We may change features, add them, or remove them. We may suspend the service for maintenance.
Payments Between Users. SplitCheck is a record-keeping tool. We do not process, hold, transmit, or facilitate the transfer of funds. We are not a money transmitter, payment processor, escrow service, or party to any transaction between users.
Where SplitCheck links to a third-party payment provider (including Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, UPI, Wise, Revolut, Monzo, or others), that link is a convenience only. Any payment you make occurs entirely within that provider's service and is governed by that provider's terms. We do not verify that a payment was sent, received, or completed, and we do not verify the identity or payment details of any user.
Payment handles and identifiers are supplied by users. We do not confirm their accuracy or ownership. You are solely responsible for verifying the recipient, amount, and currency before sending any payment.
Marking a balance as settled within SplitCheck updates your records only. It is not evidence that a payment was made or received.
Balances, conversions, and exchange rates shown in SplitCheck are estimates for informational purposes and may not match the amounts processed by a payment provider. Exchange rates are sourced from third parties and may be delayed or inaccurate.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all liability for losses arising from payments sent, not sent, sent in error, sent to the wrong recipient, sent in the wrong amount or currency, or for disputes between users regarding amounts owed.
SplitCheck is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or free of errors, or that amounts it calculates will be accurate.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Part2AI, Inc. is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, money, or profits, arising from your use of SplitCheck.
Our total liability to you for any claim relating to SplitCheck is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred US dollars, whichever is greater.
Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
You can stop using SplitCheck at any time. To have your account deleted, email us.
We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, or if we stop operating the service. If we close the service entirely, we'll give reasonable notice so you can get your data out.
We may update these terms. If we do, we'll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll tell you in the app. Continuing to use SplitCheck after a change means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules.
This section applies only if you downloaded SplitCheck through Apple's App Store.
Apple is not a party to these terms and has no responsibility for SplitCheck. Apple has no obligation to provide support for the app. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any.
